If coolness is the objective, then you can't get higher (evolutionary speaking) than a male Silverback Gorilla, but we're human with a consciousness unique to us, and so then use of this consciousness is one of the most valuable things we can do, meaning the geek really will rule the earth.
(Feel free to quibble with choice of "coolest organism." A pretty good case can be made for the Bengal Tiger, after all.)
